Handle the edges
Lift a record by the edge and label rather than touching the grooves. Set the sleeve in a clean, reachable place while it plays.
Check before replay
If dust is visible, use an appropriate record brush according to its instructions. Avoid household cloths or liquids not intended for records.
Return it properly
Put the disc back in a clean inner sleeve and store it upright. Leave enough room that records do not lean heavily or warp.
Do I need to clean after every side?
Not necessarily. Handle carefully and respond to visible dust using suitable tools.
